SCREENWRITING IS...

                                                      EASY

... AS LONG AS YOU KNOW HOW!

What is the definition of a screenplay?

The blueprint that outlines a story
 through visual description,
actions of characters, and their dialogue.

The term "script" is more used in the movie industry probably because it is shorter,
but "script" also applies to stageplays while in production.

There are three types of screenplays (excluding genre and media considerations):

- Spec script : Speculative screenplay is a solicited work, written in the hopes of having it purchased by a producer or production company.
- Commissioned script - written by hired professionals for a specific project (based on an original idea; adapting a novel, a play or comic book; or for a show or franchise).
- Shooting script - altered for shooting: scenes are numbered and pages are locked.

There is so much to know about writing a good screenplay! Really-really, just your experience and gut-feeling are able to guide you… but that could take years to develop.

I meet people every day who tell me “what a great idea” they have for a screenplay but most of them are not able to write it. If they start it at all...

Screenplay writing can be very frustrating if you realize you need to rewrite your script again and again.
But if you start with a good foundation, it can be very rewarding because you are on the top of the game and everything falls in place. It is easy because you know how to do it from the get-go.

"When you do enough research, the story almost writes itself. Lines of  development spring loose and you’ll have choices galore.”
Robert McKee
